Choosing a new puppy - This is a nice starter guide of things that you should consider when you are thinking about getting a puppy

Breeds of Dogs  - A quick reference guide to many breeds of dogs, including photos and brief descriptions of each breed's characteristics.

The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) - The Cat Fanciers' Association website has lots of pictures, as well as information on cat breeds, cat care, upcoming cat shows, and much more.

American Association of Feline Practitioners - The AAFP is like the American Medical Association for cat doctors, and has lots of good information regarding feline health.

care-credit - Care Credit is a credit service provider exclusively for the medical and veterinary industry. Click the link at the left to apply for credit to help with your pets medical costs.

It is our mission to educate children to understand the danger that the animals and our planet are in so that they and the next generation can protect them. We will promote conservation through educating the public about what’s being done to prevent animals from becoming extinct and the loss of habitat. Take a Walk on The Wild Side is a registered 501 (c)(3) tax-deductible nonprofit charity magazine and monies raised will be donated for new exhibits, animals, education, etc.

Framed Pet Tributes - Reflections is a combination of visual and literary art. American Heartworm Society - Everything you ever wanted to know about heartworm disease can be found here!

Behavior problems - Founded by Brian Kilcommons and Sharon Wilson, best-selling authors and recognized experts on animal training and behavior, this site is a terrific resource for advice on a variety of behavioral problems. If you want to learn more about feline housesoiling, barking dogs, aggression, or any other behavioral problem, check this one out!

ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center - This is the website of the ASPCAl Animal Poison Control Center. It includes a library, links to other sites, and phone numbers for the poison control center.

USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service - The USDA maintains this website with information on a variety of animal health related topics, including the latest news on such things as Mad Cow Diseases, foot and mouth disease, and many other things.

Veterinary Medical Sites

American Veterinary Medical Association - This site is a good starting point to learn more about a variety of topics, including feline injection-site sarcomas and the latest subjects in veterinary medicine.

Veterinary Schools in the US - This is a great link to all of the websites of veterinary schools in the United States.

Rainbow Bridge - Anyone who has ever lost a pet should visit this wonderful site. It is a terrific tribute to our lost family members.

Veterinary Imaging Center of San Diego - VICSD stands at the forefront of veterinary radiology practice and research. The center’s clinical study of feline hyperthyroidism helped raise the odds of full recovery for cats treated at VICSD to nearly 100%, an accomplishment replicated at no other facility. Dog Beach Dentistry - Visit Dr. Niemiec's website for up-to-date information on the latest in Pet Dental Care. The website offers educational videos for clients.

We offer prescription diets to meet the medical needs of our patients, these diets are available for purchase at the hospital on the advice of your pets' doctor. Maintenance diets are also available through the hospital, no prescription required

Harrison's Bird Food - Is a high quality diet for you feathered friends. They offered a variety of pelleted diets making it easy to find one your bird will love. HBD also offers the AVIx line of products to help keep your bird healthy. Only available through veterinarians.

Zupreem - They offer a wide variety of healthy diet options for your pet bird. These pelleted diets are a good choice to help maintain your birds weight and keep them healthy. This brand is not currently available at our hospital, but is recommended for those trying to transition thier bird onto a pelleted diet.

Rescue Organizations Supported By RSDAH:

San Diego Turtle and Tortoise Society - A local non-profit organization for the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured turtles and tortoises. 

Pet Adoption  & Foundation for the Care of Indigent Animals - A local rescue group we support in their care and treatment of small breed dogs to help find them new homes. Check out the Petfinder website if you are interested in adopting a small breed dog from Foundationf for the Care of Indigent Animals.

Schnauzer Rescue - Dedicated to the rescue and adoption of Miniature Schnauzers. We help this organization with care and treatment. If you are interested in adopting a Schnauzer, check out the Petfinder website and look for Schnauzer Rescue Adoptions.

House Rabbit Society - The San Diego House Rabbit Society is local organization geared towards that special rabbit, their website has lots of information on all the care a house rabbit needs.

Dachshund Rescue of San DiegoThe DRSD is a dedicated group of volunteers working to provide care and new homes for unwanted, abandoned and needy Dachshunds. We are a breed specific rescue. Our goal and objective is to place rescue dogs into caring and loving environments and enhance the love of the breed.

Feral Cat CoalitionSince we began in 1992, we’ve spayed or neutered over 2,000 cats per year! The Feral Cat Coalition is made up entirely of volunteers, and donations are always welcome and needed. All money received goes directly back into achieving our goal: reducing the enormous number of homeless, unwanted cats and alleviating their suffering!
